You do your part first.

You can’t do everything on your own. Nor can you think that Allah swt will do everything for you. You can’t think that Allah willed it for someone to be good so they are good and He didn’t will it for me so I’m not. No. Allah willed it for them because they willed it for themselves. He didn’t will it for you because you didn’t will it for yourself. You have to do your part. You take the first step, Allah will make the next thousand steps easier but you have to initiate.

For whoever wills among you to take a right course.

And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds.
-81:28-29

You can’t sit at the two extremes of the case thinking you have power over everything or that you have power over nothing. No. You have to balance it out. You have power over yourself but Allah has power over you and everything else so if you head towards Him, there is no force in the universe which can stop you but Allah doesn’t will something for someone which they don’t will for themselves.
